The Body-Earth Connection
The body is composed primarily of water and minerals, making it a great conductor of electricity. Get Grounded
There are many ways to connect more deeply to the earth we live on. Start with something small and incorporate a practice or two, five to 20 minutes a day.
Roam free often. In an idyllic world, we could all walk free with neither shoes nor care. But having our feet touch the grass for extended amounts of time can feel next to impossible. There is always a wood floor, a slab of concrete, or a high heel acting as a barrier to conduction. So take your opportunities when you can, walking barefoot or even laying still on the ground to connect your entire body to Mother Earth.
Eat directly from the earth. Another way to get more grounded is to connect to our planet through the food we eat. Eating locally and organically allows us to absorb the energetic properties from the sun and the soil. We connect back to source through deliberate food choices and the act of mindful eating.
Re-establish your roots. Take the time to connect with the earth in other ways. Take a walk in your favorite park or trail. Meditate by a favorite tree or take up a gardening project, getting your hands in the earth and growing something living like vegetables, plants or flowers.
Show gratitude. We often walk through the world taking for granted the transformative energy and beauty it gives us each day. Say it aloud or to yourself next time you're marveling at nature.
Grounding allows us to take flight in all aspects of our lives. Our journey is a balancing act, and this practice provides a physical and metaphorical means of establishing a natural sturdy foundation from which to blossom, grow, create, live.
